We had a wonderful week in Butterfly Cottage at Les Hirondelles. Everything was just perfect. All communication before was great- we were greeted upon arrival and shown around. A little welcome gift was very pleasant too 🙂 The cottage was delightful. Much better than the photographs too 🙂 Everything we could need was provided, kitchen equipment, places to store our clothes etc. It was very comfortable and we felt immediately at home. The grounds are amazing. The pool (heated) is probably the largest I have experienced at a holiday rental. The weather was super hot that week and we spent a LOT of time in that pool. Lots of good quality sunloungers, and parasols around the pool too. The hot tub was an unexpected bonus – very pleasant to spend a little time in there on an evening looking at out the surrounding fields. Very peaceful. Many popular places of interest within a short drive – we were having a lazy week but did nip down in to Les Eyzies a couple of times, Sarlat for market day, Castelnaud La Chappelle and Les Jardins de Marqueyssac. There are many more places to see, but we’ve visited this region a couple of times before so didn’t need to see everything. Overall I would highly recommend this holiday rental to anyone who appreciates being in quiet, peaceful, countryside setting with all the comforts of home. We stayed at Andy and Uliana’s property for a week at the end of June and really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and well cared for. The outside was beautiful and the pool/hot tub fantastic for everyone. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Très bon accueil ,nous étions attendus et accueillis avec des petites attentions (des œufs frais des poules, bouteille de vin, noix du terroir) gîte d’une propreté exceptionnelle. La chance aussi de profiter de la belle piscine et du jacuzzi sans avoir à partager avec d’autres hôtes. Chaque jour les propriétaires étaient à notre écoute, une très,très belle expérience avec le calme et le ballet des hirondelles dont le gite porte bien le nom. Un lieu également stratégique pour visiter le Périgord. Nous partageons cet avis mais en même temps aimerions le garder secret pour en profiter encore… Merci à Ulliana et son mari

Memorable family holiday

“Our 3-generation family spent a week at Les Hirondelles (both the villa and cottage) celebrating several family milestones. This holiday exceeded our already high expectations.

Les Hirondelles was perfectly situated for us. It’s a few minutes’ drive to the towns of Les Eyzies and Ste Cyprien. Some of the most incredible cave art is within a few kilometers. All the A-List attractions of the Dordogne were within the radius of a half-hour drive—every bit of it through beautiful countryside.

The property is gorgeous, especially when the weather is right for outdoor living. We took all our meals on the patio, surrounded by great beauty and accompanied by bird songs. Even with five energetic kids there was plenty of space for everyone who wanted to be exuberant without disturbing those of us seeking an hour of quiet time. The pool is great.

The houses are clean and well-equipped. They accommodated our group comfortably. There are three public areas in the villa, plus a separate kitchen/living room in the cottage. The kitchens had all the equipment and dishes that we needed. We stayed during a record-breaking heat wave, with high temperatures topping out around 40 Celsius. The stone walls kept the interior cool for a couple of days before the heat penetrated. This led to a few uncomfortably warm nights, especially in the upstairs bedrooms. No idea about the comfort level during more seasonable warm spells.

The owner/hosts Andy and Uliana live on the premises. They struck the perfect balance between being available and unobtrusive. Our stay was early in their first season running Les Hirondelles. Despite being new at this endeavor they provided all the information we requested. I’m sure their local knowledge will grow steadily.

Our only regret was not being able to stay longer. We would have been happy spending more time enjoying Les Hirondelles and the beautiful Dordogne region.”
